Chemo #2 was put on hold Thursday. Linda's white blood cell count was low enough to where the doctor felt she shouldn't have the treatment this week. She continued on a half dose of the Xeloda (chemo pills taken on weekdays) but skipped the weekly Navelbine (chemo infusion). Although a break will be good to get her counts up, it was disappointing news since we were both ready to continue the treatment. Her counts will be checked again next Thursday. In the meantime, she needs to be extra careful around colds again since her immune system is down.
Linda feels good (no more mild fevers either), so the blood test results were a bit surprising. However, we are told the first week of Navelbine tends to hit the counts the hardest, and then they usually rebound. Linda's counts probably were hit harder due to the 1st round of chemo she completed just a couple months ago. Hopefully, all will be back on track for this Thursday!
Rob.
